The Cool Greenhouse Share Details Of Second Album ‘Sod’s Toastie’

Throughout this magnificent sophomore album, Tom Greenhouse and his brave band of sound explorers are more certain and confident than ever.

While Tom Greenhouse's bizarre insights and experiences remain prominent, the band steps up their game this time around with a more energising sound that matches Greenhouse's utterly unique lyrical style. Greenhouse continues to take great pleasure in crafting increasingly fantastical short stories, revelling in the impact of the deadpan one-liner, and adorning his songs with obscure cultural allusions; extraterrestrials, for instance, frequently enter the subject matter.

Their first single Hard Rock Potato is a swirl of keys and synths, which is a real noise-pop treasure. One of the numerous top-notch one-liners on the album can be found here, as the stream-of-consciousness lyrics take potshots at the evil financial sector: "It's not gambling if you're wearing a tie (even if you've got no trousers on)".

The Cool Greenhouse have perfected their own brand of post-punk on Sod's Toastie; the album's dissonant riffs, magical musical chemistry, and cheeky spoken-word vocals are all delightful. Sod's Toastie is a not-so-difficult second album that is at times amusing and at other times just delightfully good.
