Slumber Share Debut Single ‘Julian Casablancas (I Wanna Rock A Pair Like)’
Slumber are set to headline their very first show at the Sebright Arms on October 5th.
London's indie-rock scene is about to get a jolt of energy as five-piece band Slumber prepares to drop their debut single, ‘Julian Casablancas (I Wanna Rock A Pair Like)’, on September 13th. The track, which captures the essence of indie sleaze with a blend of self-aware swagger and playful imperfections, is set to be the anthem for every socially awkward soul who dreams of stealing the spotlight.
Described as “a Heineken-stained, flash-photography-fueled anthem soaked in a uniquely British form of mild-mannered hedonism,” the single channels the spirit of Rivers Cuomo crashing a Dandy Warhols rehearsal while trying to pen a Blur hit. The result is a track that embodies the pressure and excitement of London nightlife, wrapped in a tongue-in-cheek nod to The Strokes and their iconic style.
“‘Julian Casablancas’ is about feeling inadequate in the face of London’s nightlife,” the band explains. “It’s that feeling of being surrounded by the coolest and hottest people imaginable, but instead of confronting that vulnerability, we offset it with a joke about The Strokes and their jeans.”
