Ain’t Share Haunting New Single "Teething" and Announce UK Tour Dates

London’s post-punk outfit Ain’t continues to impress with second single and upcoming live performances.

London-based quintet Ain’t has returned with their melancholic second single, "Teething," released today via Fear Of Missing Out Records. The track drops in the midst of an explosive year for the band, following their debut single "Oar," which launched in May to widespread acclaim from major outlets like Stereogum, NME, and CLASH, and garnered radio play from BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X, and Apple Music 1.

"Teething" showcases Ain’t’s distinctive blend of ‘90s guitar rock, post-punk, and shoegaze, with a sound that is as nostalgic as it is innovative. The track was recorded with producer Oli Barton Wood, known for his work with Porridge Radio and Shame. It weaves together muscular, hook-driven melodies and an uneasy sense of motion, brought to life by Hanna Baker Darch’s haunting vocals and Ed Randall’s evocative guitar work. The song’s genesis stems from a simple guitar motif that Randall would often return to, ultimately evolving into a poignant exploration of rejection and longing.

Reflecting on the track, the band shared, “Teething is definitely our creepiest song. Ed wrote it ages before Ain’t, and the lyrics ‘you don’t even notice me from the window’ encapsulate the whole premise neatly. It’s about vying for someone’s attention when they couldn’t care less – and how the sting of that rejection isn’t so much a sting, but a persistent throbbing, like toothache.”

This release builds on the momentum generated by "Oar" and sets the stage for what promises to be a dynamic period for Ain’t, as they gear up for a series of live performances across the UK this autumn and winter. Fans can catch Ain’t live at several venues, including The George Tavern in London on September 28th and Bristol’s The Old England on November 9th, with more dates scheduled through April 2024.
