Paramore, A24 & The Talking Heads

Paramore teases fans with a sneak peek: A24 collaboration unveils exciting details on talking heads tribute album.

For Paramore fans all over the globe, it was a huge moment of collective delight earlier this week when the band uploaded a baffling, artfully shot 44 second clip in collaboration with A24 (A24, you say, since when were they at the forefront of the alt music scene?). After the band’s social media was wiped abruptly following the termination of their controversial 20-year record deal with Atlantic Records, and they hit ALTer Ego Festival in Los Angeles with a last-minute cancellation, Variety had to go on record to reassure the panicked pop-punk community that Paramore weren’t gone for good.

And here, more evidence of just that. It appears that Paramore are the first to go public with their contribution to the 16-track-16-artist tribute album to the Talking Heads, named after their well-renowned concert film, ‘Stop Making Sense’. In fact, A24 premiered the 4K restored version of this movie just last year. Zac Farro and Taylor York are shocked to attention in the video clip, as Hayley Williams receives a costume package, and plays her bandmates a cassette that kicks off a little snippet of the song we can expect them to cover, punch-in-the-air tune ‘Burning Down the House’. We don’t get much focus on their faces in this clip, suggesting either that this record will let the music speak for itself or, more likely, that there’s great spectacle to come. ‘Watch out!’ the band sing, signing off the clip, whilst the words ‘coming soon’ delight, remaining cool and cloaked in mystery. A24 have 15 more tracks to announce, and if the quality of this first collaboration is anything to go off, I’ll be watching from the edge of my seat.
