Model/Actriz Announce Sophomore Album Pirouette
Share lead single “Cinderella”.
Brooklyn noise-rock outfit Model/Actriz have announced their highly anticipated second album, Pirouette, set for release on May 2 via True Panther / Dirty Hit. The follow-up to their acclaimed 2023 debut Dogsbody, the album sees the band pushing their signature mix of blistering post-punk, club-pop energy, and theatrical intensity even further.
Alongside the album announcement, the band has shared the lead single “Cinderella,” a propulsive, techno-infused track that pairs swagger with raw vulnerability. The accompanying video, directed by Nathan Castiel (Remi Wolf, Surf Curse), offers a campy reimagining of the classic fairy tale, with frontman Cole Haden starring as Cinderella and the rest of the band taking on the roles of her wicked step-family.
“‘Cinderella’ distills within it many of the objectives that would become the lifeblood of Pirouette,” Haden explains. “The song switches between moments of tension and fluidity, dissonance and harmony. We aimed to write something with an inherent brightness that differed from anything we had made before, and the light that shines through the song was made not by removing darkness, but by upping the contrast.”
Produced and mixed by Seth Manchester (The Body, Lingua Ignota, Mdou Moctar) and mastered by Matt Colton (Aphex Twin, James Blake), Pirouette builds on Dogsbody’s reputation for raw, unrelenting energy while embracing new sonic textures. Drawing from cabaret, electronic music, and the glossy excess of pop icons like Britney Spears and Mariah Carey, the album captures the band’s signature intensity in a new form.
Model/Actriz have also announced an upcoming North American and European tour, including festival appearances at Lido Festival in London, Outbreak Festival in Manchester, and Kalorama Festival in Lisbon and Madrid. Tickets for newly announced headline shows go on sale Friday, February 28.
Earlier this month, the band was personally invited by Jack White to open his intimate NYC show at Irving Plaza - another testament to their rapidly growing reputation as one of the most electrifying live acts today.
