Baxter Dury Announces New Album “I Thought I Was Better Than You”

Baxter Dury announces his latest album I Thought I Was Better Than You and shares lead single ‘Aylesbury Boy’.

Baxter Dury, a multi-talented musician, writer, and Renaissance man, is back with his latest track 'Aylesbury Boy' from his seventh studio album 'I Thought I Was Better Than You', which is set to release on June 2nd, 2023 through Heavenly Recordings. Produced by Paul White, known for his work with Golden Rules, Charli XCX, and Danny Brown, the album will be available on a limited edition translucent pink vinyl, a special Rough Trade edition in blue, and a standard black edition. Baxter's regular vocalist Madeline Hart is joined by up-and-coming singer-songwriters Eska and JGrrey. Baxter will be headlining his biggest UK tour to date, concluding with a headline show at London's Roundhouse on October 10th, 2023.

Baxter will also support Pulp on three UK shows, including Finsbury Park on July 1st. Baxter describes his new track as being about people who come from one place and end up in another, not fitting into either, and compares them to characters from Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away. Baxter's unique language and swinging hip-hop beat combine to create a dizzying mix of humor and poignancy, a Baxter Dury classic. Baxter's previous album, 'The Night Chancers,' received his best reviews to date, and his memoir, 'Chaise Longue,' was similarly critically acclaimed.

Baxter's last two albums, 'The Night Chancers' and 'Prince of Tears,' received critical acclaim and showcased his ability to tell compelling stories through his music.
