April Gigs Not to Miss

Feast your eyes on our official April gig guide, for your dose of live electro-pop, punk, grunge and everything in between.

4 APRIL: CARDBOARD, HOT STAMP, ORAL HABIT
SEBRIGHT ARMS | BETHNAL GREEN, LONDON

This impressive line-up includes Hot Stamp, a 70s-esque rock band fronted by two sisters, Jasmine and Poppy. The band have nothing (yet) online, but Still Listening caught them at a So Young Magazine gig at the end of March, and have had a sharp eye on them since - the songs are sultry and fierce, the vocals incredibly strong, and for such a new band their set is tight and packs a punch. Get your tickets here.

6 APRIL: SICK AS THIEVES, THE RIPPLES, EVE INDIGO, THE LAZY SUSANS & MORE
THE FIDDLER’S ELBOW | CAMDEN, LONDON

This event has a collection of all sorts of genres to sink your teeth into - not to mention The Lazy Susans, classic rock n’ roll band who recently released an impressive EP, ‘Dandelion’, which includes Franz Ferdinand-esque tune ‘Raised By Wolves’. The drumming is sharp and the chock-full line-up promises a good night. Get your tickets here.

8 APRIL: THE LAST WHOLE EARTH CATALOG
THE SHACKLEWELL ARMS | LONDON

Dan Parr leads ‘The Last Whole Earth Catalog’, presenting music that ‘takes from indie, folk, jazz, rock, ambient, glitch and more’. The type of music you pop on shuffle for a long bus ride and, three days later, you still find yourself trapped in - Dan’s set is sure to be direct, raw, and all-round perfect for the Monday evening slump. Support TBA. Get your tickets here.

12 APRIL: ROMEO TAYLOR, WONDERBUG & NEW HAT
THE IVY HOUSE | NUNHEAD, LONDON

The Ivy House remains a dangerously underrated live music venue in London’s first community owned pub. Romeo Taylor is set to headline the night with his hilariously fun ‘Kingdom of Scotland’, whilst Wonderbug offer ‘grunge indie rock with a magnetic sound steeped in powerful lyrical semantics’. Get your tickets here.

13 APRIL: OUTERTOWN FESTIVAL
VARIOUS VENUES | BRISTOL

A slightly different recommendation, but this day-festival in Bristol has a romping lineup across a plethora of venues, from greasy poster-riddled pubs to candle-lit bars. You might even see a band tear up a hair-salon-cum-tattoo-parlour if you’re lucky. Snapped Ankles and Deadletter promise furious fast-paced tunes alongside beloved South-Londer post-punkers Opus Kink, whilst Getdown Services are sure to serve some boisterous fun and Ugly have some funky, fresh unreleased tunes to shake up the day. Get your tickets here before they sell out.

17 APRIL: THE DADA MOVEMENT, LIPWORMS & SMALL COPPER
THE WINDMILL | BRIXTON, LONDON

The Dada Movement transport listener to sun-streaked field with bell-bottoms tickling long strands of grass - with the spring sun just rearing her lazy head, this gig will put you right in the mood for the joy finally hiding round the next corner. Lipworms, too, promise some deliciously dreary electro-drizzle to bring out that rainbow-fizzled funk Brixton is known for. Get your tickets here.

20 & 21 APRIL: HIT THE SOUTH FESTIVAL
NEW CROSS INN | LONDON

It’s great to see alternative music reaching tentacled fingers beyond Brixton and into New Cross for this new, two-day festival. London-based pub-rockers Hotel Lux headline the Saturday night alongside Loose Articles and Post-Brit-Poppers Saloon Dion with a set of punchy new songs and, as always, stellar vibes onstage. On the Sunday, Bristol-favourites Heavy Lungs headline alongside Grandmas House, shoe-gazers Lemondaze and others. It’s grungy, sticky, and superbly curated. Get your tickets here.

24 APRIL: WEDNESDAY’S CHILD, DAFFODILS & RUBBER ROBSE
SEBRIGHT ARMS | BETHNAL GREEN, LONDON

It’s free, it’s bingo, it’s fun and punky - it’s the latest Bargain Bingo Disco. Still Listening and Big Richard Records collaborate once again to bring you three acts we think deserve your attention and sound deliciously good pint in hand. Come say hi and get down early to enter the free bingo - what’s not to love about a £50 bar tab?

27 APRIL: MYLAR, PEM & SCULPTURE PARK
SEBRIGHT ARMS | BETHNAL GREEN, LONDON

PEM has been on our radar for a long-time, and the release of their grief-fuelled, gorgeous latest single ‘awe’ has been garnering some well-deserved attention. Be sure to catch PEM and friends here at Myler’s EP launch. Their catchy art-pop and anecdotal lyricism will make this feel like a gossipy friend-of-a-friend type of evening. Get your tickets here.
