AIM Independent Music Awards 2024: Final Nominees Announced

AIM unveils final nominees for Independent Music Awards, highlighting RAYE, Barry Can’t Swim, and KNEECAP; Silvastone honoured as ‘Diversity Champion’.

The Association of Independent Music (AIM) has revealed the final wave of nominees for the 2024 Independent Music Awards, set to take place on October 17th at London’s iconic Roundhouse. This year’s event promises to be the biggest yet, celebrating the achievements of the UK's independent music scene across a range of categories.

Leading the pack in nominations is electronic artist Barry Can’t Swim, who now boasts three nods, including for 'Most Played New Independent Artist.' He joins other standout artists in the running for top awards, such as RAYE, Frank Turner, and Belfast’s own KNEECAP, all vying for the prestigious 'Best Live Performer' title.

Meanwhile, afrobeats artist and producer Silvastone will be honoured with the ‘Diversity Champion’ award for his extraordinary work with young people in his local community of Croydon. Silvastone, whose collaborations include the likes of Popcaan and Bugzy Malone, has become a vital figure in empowering the next generation of musicians through workshops and mentorship programs.

The highly anticipated 'Best Independent Label' award will see heavyweights like Heavenly Recordings, Ninja Tune, Partisan Records, and Seattle-based Sub Pop battle it out for the win. This year also marks the debut of the ‘Best Independent Record Store’ category, with nominees like London’s Honest Jon's and Manchester’s Piccadilly Records representing the surge in vinyl sales and independent store culture.

Adding to the night’s excitement, two special live performances have been confirmed. Mercury Prize winner Sampha and rising star OneDa will take the stage, ensuring an unforgettable evening of independent music’s brightest talents.

AIM's interim CEO Gee Davy said, “We are excited to share a further round of nominees and honour Silvastone as this year's Diversity Champion. We look forward to a glorious night celebrating the growing success and creativity of the independent music community."

With less than a month to go, anticipation is building for this celebration of the diverse and vibrant world of independent music in the UK.
