Let’s get intimate with Lewsberg on their somber cool vinyl record.

A Dutch formation, Lewsberg, previously serving us a kraut-led powered punk strayed away from the noise in a violin inspired gently dimension on their newest release ‘In Your Hands’. Already out on a digital platform, the band wanted to gift us more of an intimate experience, decided to press it on vinyl.

Considering the success of their sold-out single ‘Six Hills’ on, London’s still hippest label Speedy Wunderground, Lewsberg knows what strings to hit to get it right. In between venturing into their just found sweetly elusive soft reality and anticipating the record, we got Lewsberg to share some secrets with us.

Can you tell us who you are, where you’re from and about the music you make?

I am Shalita, I live in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and I play bass and sing a few lines in Lewsberg.

How did it all start?

Michiel (guitar) and Arie (guitar/vocals) wanted to start a band and they asked me to play bass and my friend Joris to play drums.

Can you tell us a bit about your new single ‘Sweets’?

It’s one of my favourite songs on our new album.

You’re about to release a vinyl album, ‘In Your Hands’, can you tell us a bit about it?

My other favourite is Table For Two.

How is it working with Speedy Wunderground?

I personally really enjoyed working with Dan, he’s a very positive-minded and good-hearted person and had a super cute dog called Feta, who sadly passed away this year. Working in his studio was super relaxed but we did a lot of work as well. We were in the middle of our UK tour and I was exhausted after the session. The rest of the band went to a gig afterwards, I went to the other side of London and fell asleep on my friend’s couch.

If you were to describe your sound to someone who’d never heard you before, what would you say?

I don’t like to describe music. I’d say they maybe should listen to it if they want to know what it sounds like.

What advice would you give for anyone trying to achieve a similar sound to your band?

Get yourself a guitar and an amp and start playing.

Name an album you’re still listening to from when you were younger and why it’s important to you?

I still listen to a lot of music from when I was younger, but I’d say PJ Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea is one of the most important albums because I bought it when I was 14 years old and I’m still not ever bored of it.

What do you hate right now?

Patriarchy, not only right now but forever.

What do you love right now?

Plants, not only right now but forever.

What comes next in Lewsberg’s story?

Hopefully a lot of shows abroad, I prefer playing outside of our own country, because I love the change of scenery and people

What upcoming 2022 music releases are you most excited about?

I’m not really up-to-date about any new releases. I actually still have a lot of catching up to do with a lot of music that’s been released over the past years.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Have a good day.

‘In Your Hands’ vinyl release has come to your stores and online now. Go grab it.
