Viagra Boys Announce New Album viagr aboys

Share lead single “Man Made of Meat”.

Stockholm-based post-punk outfit Viagra Boys have announced their highly anticipated fourth album, viagr aboys, set for release on April 25th via their newly launched label, Shrimptech Enterprises. Co-produced by longtime collaborator Pelle Gunnerfeldt, the album channels the band’s signature sharp humour and chaotic energy while offering a biting critique of modern life. The album art, designed by Leo Park, mirrors the band’s penchant for juxtaposing the absurd with the profound.

The first single, “Man Made of Meat,” is an offbeat anthem inspired by vocalist Sebastian Murphy’s surreal experiences touring the U.S. with Queens of the Stone Age. Anchored by relentless basslines and searing guitar riffs, the track blends absurd humour with Murphy’s existential musings, culminating in the stark confession: “I hate almost everything that I see, and I just wanna disappear.”

Accompanying the single is a video directed by Daniel Björkman, whose statement on the project challenges the boundaries of art and creativity: “Imagination is gone. Creativity is a concept. Stealing is caring. Theft is priceless. Art is a lie. Computers are useless. Music is the ultimate teacher... The world doesn't make sense, so why should we make images that do?” The result is a visually chaotic yet captivating journey that aligns with the band’s ethos of embracing the unexpected.

viagr aboys follows the band’s critically acclaimed 2022 album, Cave World, a searing satire that skewered conspiracy theorists and anti-vaxxers. That release earned Viagra Boys their late-night TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and widespread coverage from outlets like NPR, Pitchfork, The Fader, and V Magazine. This time around, Murphy shifts the focus inward, saying, “The whole political thing was exhausting. This album is like a self-titled one but a bit simple and stupid - because that’s how I am.”

The band has also announced the Infinite Anxiety Tour, kicking off at Coachella on April 12 before hitting Europe and the UK in April and May. They’ll return to North America in September for their first headline shows there in two years, including stops in Vancouver, Chicago, New York, and Atlanta.

viagr aboys is available for pre-order now, and tickets for the Infinite Anxiety Tour are on sale.
