SPELLLING Shares New Single “Alibi” and Announces UK Headline Tour
New track, features Turnstile guitarist Pat McCrory.
SPELLLING, the experimental pop project of Chrystia Cabral, has shared “Alibi,” the second single from her upcoming album Portrait of My Heart, out March 28 via Sacred Bones. The track, featuring Turnstile guitarist Pat McCrory, marks a departure into a more punk-infused sound, blending crunching riffs with Cabral’s signature ethereal vocals.
“On Alibi, I’m tapping into the almost kind of comedic and hysteric relief that kicks in when you make it out of the other side of a toxic relationship,” Cabral explains. “This song definitely unlocked this angsty side of myself that was very cathartic and fun to release.”
The new album sees SPELLLING leaning into a more personal and direct lyrical approach, shifting away from the allegorical style of previous work. It also boasts collaborations with Chaz Bear (Toro y Moi), Zulu’s Braxton Marcellous, and producers Rob Bisel (SZA) and Psymun (Yves Tumor).
SPELLLING will be touring the UK and Europe in support of Portrait of My Heart, with her first UK headline dates taking place in June:
June 9 – Bristol, UK @ Exchange
June 10 – Manchester, UK @ YES
June 11 – London, UK @ Village Underground
June 12 – Brighton, UK @ DUST
