KickBoy Unveils “Vision Shakes” Music Video

The band return with long-awaited video for “Vision Shakes”, just in time for Halloween.

Over a year since its single release, KickBoy returns with a Halloween-inspired music video for Vision Shakes, premiering today, October 31, at 1 PM UK time on YouTube. Known for their unique brand of “milk-punk,” the band embraces a DIY ethos, delivering a visually captivating spectacle. Vision Shakes picks up where the group’s 2021 debut, Portland, left off, expanding KickBoy’s fictional lore with the induction of new members.

In this video’s quirky storyline, the original three members Jamie, Chris, and Owen bring saxophonist Connie into the fold during a raucous Halloween party. Disguised in costumes, the band members perform a mock ritual, exposing Connie to their signature "mysterious liquid," sending them spiralling into a musical frenzy that culminates in Connie’s saxophone debut. In a fitting twist, a fifth member, Jules, materialises as a spirit summoned via séance, adding a spectral edge to the lineup.

The video captures the essence of KickBoy’s irreverent, DIY spirit. Directed by Jamie’s longtime friend Alex Skelton, whom he met while living in Salamanca, Spain, the project relied heavily on a close-knit circle. Production design, costumes, and makeup were spearheaded by Nadia Raza, while the set was put together using a mix of cardboard, tape, and various costume odds and ends. Notably, the shoot had its fair share of logistical challenges: scheduling conflicts among seven members meant improvising, with one scene featuring Connie’s flatmate standing in as drummer Owen in a face-covering costume.

KickBoy’s antics and creative approach haven’t gone unnoticed. The band recently played at Rotterdam’s Left of the Dial festival, earning accolades as one of the weekend’s standout acts. With 2025 around the corner, KickBoy hints at more unrestrained, DIY madness ahead.
