Goat Girl Share New Track ‘gossip’

Goat Girl unveil a noisy synth-driven standalone single that hints at an exciting new creative direction.

London-based four-piece Goat Girl have unveiled their hypnotic new single, ‘gossip’, alongside a self-directed video by band member Lottie Pendlebury. The track, a stand-alone release, embraces the group’s electronic influences, drawing inspiration from artists such as Aphex Twin, Koreless, Tirzah, and Gilla Band. ‘gossip’ was initially recorded in Ireland during sessions for their latest album, Below The Waste.

Speaking about the track, the band shared: “We started recording gossip in Ireland with John ‘Spud’ Murphy during the making of Below The Waste, but it felt more like its own thing than part of the album. We wanted to lean into its electronic potential and do something quite different sonically. Lyrically, it uses natural imagery as a metaphor for contemplating hearsay and destructive behaviours.”

The accompanying video, directed and edited by Pendlebury, adds a mesmerising visual layer to the track. You can watch it below.

This release follows the band’s recent evolution into a four-piece with the addition of multi-instrumentalist Ruby Kyriakides (they/him). Goat Girl continues to push boundaries, blending noise-rock, folk, and synth-pop into a singularly immersive sound.
