Goat Girl Announce Third Album ‘Below The Waste’

Share captivatingly murky lead single ‘ride around’.

Goat Girl, consisting of Lottie Pendlebury, Rosy Jones, and Holly Mullineaux, is thrilled to unveil their third album, Below The Waste set to be released on Rough Trade Records on June 7th, 2024. Co-produced by the band and John Spud Murphy (known for his work with Lankum & black midi), and pieced together over an extended period, the album's instrumentation was primarily recorded during a ten-day session in Ireland's Hellfire Studios, with additional contributions from various locations, including Damon Albarn's Studio 13. The band enriched their sound with additional strings, woodwind instruments, and vocals from a choir of family and friends.

The lead track ‘ride around’ is accompanied by a captivating video directed and produced by Luke Kulukundis and Mateo Villanueva Brandt, explores themes of outsiderdom and the complexities of human connection against the backdrop of urban life.

Singer Lottie Pendlebury shares insights into the lead track, stating “I was listening to lots of music at the time by Phillip Glass and Deerhoof that plays with the relationship between tension and resolution which definitely influenced this song. I was yearning for honesty and authenticity in relationships I held with people, probably partly because at the time, like everyone, we were so isolated from one another. But it also felt deeper than that, like the conversations I dreamt of stripped away all of the etiquettes we desperately clung onto and went below the surface to where the most interesting parts of ourselves tend to be suppressed.”

Goat Girl will kick off a short underplay tour in March, including a performance at the iconic ICA in London, followed by a record store tour upon the album's release. Details of a full headline UK & EU tour will be announced soon.
