Gig Review: Josh Caffé At Moth Club

Poppa Zesque album launch party!

The persistent and purest excitement surrounding The East End’s ex-serviceman’s club turned left field music hangout spot would not refrain, my god many are saying - the bug bear humidity couldn’t drag this crowd away.

‘You’re gonna be filthy, I’m gonna make you dirty’ the first and commanding quote from Caffe, which by the way, entered the stage in the most lavish and sultry form and that being in an inflated outfit (check the photos on that one, you missed out big time!) - Talk about setting the scene of high fashion that surrounded The East End hotspot.

An unwavering element of flamboyancy heaved through Moth Club - The pornographic thriller set upon this early week gigging night perpetuated how much the city adores a dance to dysfunctional and hypnotic beats, paired with the most luxurious elements of square wave and saw tooth synth pulses. The crowd in unison with Caffé and co shake the room and catch ears to the sharp corners of the reverberated four to the floor beats around the room. The momentary bliss that resides with a sparkle in the eyes from the entire dance floor is a wonder to behold as the squelching bass lines bubble back up into the forefront only to be dragged up with that fizzing snare that hits the back of your head. For a relatively small room you’d think you were in Fabric itself from the sheer push and pull of energies displayed in front of your eyes.

The crowd belts a roar from another pinpoint quote ‘is everyone having a party in here’? A swift outfit change and the choice to proceed into the smutty wonder that is ‘Bunny Grinder’ Alex White prowls the stage as if they were a caged lion alongside Caffé. This marvel Tuesday night has now become a full party central onslaught into a cry for the weekends debauchery for certain, the lucid limbs of the locals are a standpoint for the ‘sexual maniac’ and eloquence perceived to one and all.

Both bold and brash are Josh Caffe’s lyrics, if you hadn’t noticed it’s a strictly X-Rated affair and contains a much needed post watershed showing. Addictive beats and bass chugs from the rhythm sections are just what Caffé’s lyrics reflect, ‘Give me my body, Give me what I want’

The inclusivity and representation of all cultures is one to behold on the brink of hot stuff going out week, smiles all round and enjoyment throughout has been enhanced through a stupendous show of sexuality and art. Josh Caffé is a well cemented name and renowned for being a pioneer for the current techno and house scenes in London and paired with an excellent eye for dosing the crowd with exactly what they need it is no wonder the reception was purely 10/10. Free to push yourself through and be yourself had been totally met through a thoroughly enjoyable and fine picked experience.
