Echolalia Announce Self-Titled Debut Album
Set for February 24th via Full Time Hobby.
Nashville’s latest musical venture, Echolalia, is gearing up to release their self-titled debut album on February 24th via Full Time Hobby. The group, comprising acclaimed talents Spencer Cullum, Andrew Combs, Jordan Lehning, and Dominic Billett, has unveiled their first single, "Odd Energy," alongside an evocative music video.
Recorded in the centuries-old Chale Abbey Studios on the Isle of Wight, the album showcases a distinctive blend of pastoral psychedelia and progressive folk. The band embraced an unconventional recording process, discarding modern studio norms for a stripped-back, communal approach. “No charts, no headphones, no isolation,” notes Cullum, describing the experience as rooted in freedom and creativity.
“Destination records are my favourite records to make,” adds Jordan Lehning, known for his work with Rodney Crowell and Orville Peck. “Out there, it felt like we were the only people on Earth making music, with the foggy coast just a short walk away. It was magical.”
The album’s lineup features an ensemble of additional talents, including multi-instrumentalists Eli Beaird, Juan Solorzano, and producer/engineer Jason Lehning, whose contributions bring both intimacy and depth to the project.
Echolalia's creation stems from a rare opportunity for busy friends to gather, explore, and experiment. As Lehning explains, the record captures the joy of unfiltered collaboration: “It’s the sound of friends making music without preconceptions or obligations. Just joy.”
