Black Country, New Road Finally Release Some New Music
Announce new album Forever Howlong out April 4th on Ninja Tune. Share lead single "Besties".
Black Country, New Road have announced their third studio album, Forever Howlong, set for release on April 4 via Ninja Tune. It marks their first studio album since 2022’s Ants From Up There, which reached #3 on the UK charts, and follows 2023’s Live at Bush Hall, a live record that The Guardian praised as a “magical resurgence.”
The album was produced by James Ford (Fontaines D.C., Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode) and sees the band embracing a new collaborative structure, with songwriting and vocal duties shared between Tyler Hyde, Georgia Ellery, and May Kershaw. “It created a real through line for the album, having three girls singing,” says Ellery. “It’s definitely very different to Ants From Up There, because of the female perspective – and the music we’ve made also complements that.”
Alongside the album announcement, the band have shared its lead single, “Besties,” an expansive and celebratory track that also serves as the album’s opener. It’s the first Black Country, New Road studio track to feature lead vocals from Georgia Ellery. The single arrives with a music video directed by Rianne White, known for her work with Young Fathers, Aurora, and Kae Tempest. The video will premiere at 5pm GMT, followed by a live YouTube Q&A with the band.
The group will also embark on a UK and European tour this autumn, culminating in their biggest headline show to date at London’s O2 Brixton Academy on October 31. They’re also set to play major festivals, including Primavera Sound, Paredes De Coura, Lowlands, and End of the Road.
Forever Howlong will be available in multiple formats, including a standard 2LP on recycled black vinyl, a signed white-label 2LP, an indie-exclusive edition, and a collector’s edition featuring an alternate tracklisting on translucent eco jazz red vinyl and cassette.
Pre-orders for the album are available now, with fans who purchase before February 4 gaining early access to UK and Ireland tour tickets. General ticket sales open on February 7.
